MATCH DICE
v1.1
By: Brad Williams
72066,3231@compuserve.com
GAME SUMMARY
--------------
Match Dice is a fairly simple dice game in which the computer rolls a
pair of dice. You then place a bet and enter the number of rolls from
1 to 5 in which you think you can match the total of the computer's dice.
Bet amounts from losing games are added to a Jackpot that can be won
in two ways. By matching a (2) or (12) in only (1) roll. A table of
Payoff calculations is accessible in the game, and shown here:

When you receive your registration code, just replace 00000000 with it
on line 5 and you're off! (That's line 7 for GT Power BBS's).
Here is a rundown of changeable or enhanced features that will be enabled
after registration.

INSTALLATION
--------------
(1) Create a directory to hold all MDICE files.
(2) Unzip MDICExx.ZIP into the the above directory.
(3) Create a configuration file, with the name of your choice, or
modify the supplied MDICE.CFG file. Here's an example with
explanations of each line of the file.
NOTE: DO NOT leave any blank lines in this file!
Blank lines below are only to allow explanations of each line.
xxx <- Location of system file (See Below)
YOUR BBS <- Your BBS Name
John <- Sysop's First name
Doe <- Sysop's Last Name
1 <- CommPort | These 2 lines are required | NOTE!!!!!
1 <- Node # | ONLY for GTUSER.BBS | NOTE!!!!!
00000000 <- Registration Code
10 <- Games Per Day (Default when Unregistered is 10)
(Sysops who Register can set from 1 to 50)
1000 <- Starting Cash (Default when Unregistered is $1000)
(Sysops who Register can set from $100 to $5000)
Y <- Y = Display Sysop-created ANSI screen recognizing the
user(s) who contributed to registering the door.
(Or whatever screen the Sysop chooses to display).
N = No screen display.
SCREEN.SCR <- File Name of the screen described in above line or
NONE (Name of this screen file is up to the Sysop).
*NOTE: File must be in the MDICE directory. Use just
the file name/extension - No drive or path.
(4) Create a batch file or modify the MDICE.BAT file supplied. A
description of this file follows:
ECHO OFF
CD\PCB\DOORS\BBDICE <- Location of MDICE files
MDICE MDICE.CFG <- (.EXE filename and .CFG filename
used in creating file in #3 above)
CD\PCB
BOARD
(5) When running in more than one node, be sure to supply a
different configuration name for each node (your choice of name).
LOCATION OF SYSTEM FILE
-------------------------
(xxx = Replace with 1 of the following so MDICE can find your BBS data file.)
C:\PCB\PCBOARD.SYS <- For PCBoard systems using PCBOARD.SYS only
C:\PCB\USERS.SYS <- For PCBoard systems using USERS.SYS
C:\BBS\CALLINFO.BBS <- For Wildcat! systems (prior to v3.0)
C:\BBS\GTUSER.BBS <- For GT Power systems
C:\BBS\USERINFO.DAT <- For Wildcat! 3.x+ systems.
C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS <- For systems that support DOOR.SYS
C:\BBS\DORINFOx.DEF <- For QBBS/RBBS/RA. Replace x with Node #.
C:\BBS\SFDOORS.DAT <- For Spitfire systems.
C:\BBS\TRIBBS.SYS <- For TriBBS systems.
C:\BBS\GTUSER.BBS <- For GT Power
* if using this option you must put the
ComPort # on line 5 and the Node # on
line 6 of the configuration file
FOSSIL DRIVER SUPPORT
-----------------------
This door supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell the Door to
use the Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD
on the command line when running the door. For example:
MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no
Fossil driver is detected, the door will print a message to that
effect and exit.
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
-----------------------
This door supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
number after the configuration filename. Let's assume your Door is
called FOOBAR and you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
passed to your Door would be:
FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /5 or
FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
The /5 tells the door to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.
When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
PCBoard:
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
Wildcat!:
USERINFO.DAT in C:\WC\NODE1 - C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%
Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
SET PCBDRIVE=C:
SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
SET PCBNODE=1
486DX CPU's
-------------
The math coprocessor in 486DX CPUs cannot handle floating point math which
all MicroSoft Basic's use. This can show up as an ERROR 5, a keyboard
timeout, etc.
Fortunately there is an easy fix for this problem. Simply place the following
line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET NO87=ON
MISCELLANEOUS
---------------
The latest version of Match Dice can usually be found on CompuServe,
in the Modem Games Forum, within the BBS/Network Games Library.
NOTE: Most errors will be logged to a file called (DFRAME.ERR).
This file is created in the directory you run the door from.
If you have any comments, suggestions for improvement, or any bugs
to report, you can reach me either on CompuServe at:
